Navi Mumbai: More than 1.77 lakh school students from Navi Mumbai took to the streets in a massive march on April 22 to mark World Earth Day and raise awareness about environmental protection. The initiative, held across 434 municipal primary and secondary schools, was part of a larger campaign launched by the government under the slogan ‘Paryavaraṇa Vachava – Vasundhara Sajjawa’ (Save the Environment – Beautify the Earth).
Running from April 22 to May 1, the campaign emphasises public participation and aims to embed values of environmental conservation among students, the future guardians of Navi Mumbai.
During the march, students carried placards and shouted slogans, spreading messages of sustainability and nature preservation throughout their school neighbourhoods.
Teachers, parents, school committee members, senior citizens, and concerned residents joined in, showing enthusiastic support for the cause. Following the march, all participants took a collective pledge to protect the environment.
