Kopar Khairane: NMMC carried out a decisive demolition drive against unauthorised constructions on June 13. The drive was carried after the individuals concerned failed to comply with notices issued by the civic body.

The encroachments were earlier served notices under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. With no corrective steps taken, the illegal structures were removed as per the law. In addition to the demolition, the encroachers were penalised, and a total fine of Rs 40,000 (Rs 20,000 each) was collected.

NMMC has announced that stringent actions against unauthorised constructions will continue across the city in the coming days.
