National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal Simplifies Online Complaint Filing for Cyber Incidents

top-news

In response to the surge in cybercrimes and frauds, the Government of India has launched the 'National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal,' aimed at assisting citizens in reporting various cybercrimes online without the need to visit a police station immediately.

Accessible through 'https://cybercrime.gov.in,' this portal is part of the I4C initiative, enabling the public to report a wide array of cybercrimes online. Incidents reported on this platform are duly processed into FIRs and further addressed by the respective State/UT Law Enforcement Agencies in accordance with legal provisions. Moreover, a toll-free Helpline number '1930' has been activated to aid in lodging online cyber complaints.

The portal primarily caters to complaints related to cybercrimes, with a specific emphasis on cases involving women and children.

In general, cybercrime encompasses any unlawful activity where computers, communication devices, or networks are utilized to commit or facilitate criminal acts.

Individuals can access the National Cyber Crime reporting portal cybercrime.gov.in (Helpline no. 1930) to register complaints regarding cybercrime and cyber fraud. The portal details approximately 24 types of cybercrimes, including sextortion. While recovering money after falling victim to cyber fraud might be challenging, reporting the scam to appropriate authorities, such as RSB (Report Scammed Bitcoin) via email at support@reportscammedbitcoin.com, is essential.

Recognizing cyber fraud or scams immediately might not always be easy for victims. Therefore, it is crucial to remain vigilant and take note of potential signs of fraud, such as unexpected charges in bank accounts or credit cards, receiving unsolicited emails or texts requesting personal information. Attaching your mobile number to your personal bank account for transaction alerts is advised, ensuring timely notifications of any discrepancies.

For assistance with cybercrimes, the helpline number is 1930, and the local police can be reached at the helpline number 112 for National Police or through 181, the National Women Helpline number.
