Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital and Mafatlal Cricket Club register contrasting wins: RCF T20

Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital snatched a narrow two-run victory against Mumbai Port Trust Sports Club in the first round match of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar T20 Cup Inter-Office Cricket Tournament 2024, being organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF Colony ground in Chembur on Monday.

Defending a low target of 121, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital bowlers Devendranath Parida and Ashley D'Souza claimed three wickets each while conceding 42 runs in their eight overs to restrict Mumbai Port Trust to 118 for nine wickets from the quota of 20 overs. Mumbai Port Trust batters failed to get going as only Shreeraj Gharat managed to score 29 runs.

Earlier sent in to bat, Nanavati Hospital were dismissed for a paltry 120 in 20 overs. Sai Chavan top-scored with 31 runs and Tushar Singh contributed 22 runs to prop the innings, while Mumbai Port Trust’s Dashrath Chavan grabbed 5 wickets for just 13 runs.

However, in the second match of the day, Mafatlal Cricket Club riding on Harshad Khadiwala fifty and Prasad Patil four wicket haul defeated by 27 runs while defending a competitive score of 160 for 8.

All-round effort by Sagar Mishra (2 for 31 and 38) failed to propel CGST & CE Mumbai Zone cause who infact were bowled out for 133 in the final over of the innings.

Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital - 120 all out in 20 overs (Sai Chavan 31in  Tushar Singh 22; Dashrath Chavan 5/13) beat Mumbai Port Trust Sports Club - 118 for 9 in  20 overs (Shreeraj Gharat 29; Devendranath Parida 3/18,  Ashley D'Souza 3/24) by two runs.

Mafatlal Cricket Club - 160 for 8 in 20 overs (Harshad Khadiwala 58,  Prasad Patil 28*; Deepak Shetty 3/32, Sagar Mishra 2/31) beat CGST & CE Mumbai Zone 133 all out in  19.2 overs (Sagar Mishra 38, Karan Vasodiya 29,  Amit Dhiaya 20; Prasad Patil 4/28, Yash Singh 3/18) by 27 runs.
