Mira Road: The Crime Branch of Kashimira Police apprehended two individuals involved in the illegal possession and distribution of marijuana, valued at approximately Rs 14.15 lakh. The seized quantity of cannabis weighed 70.919 kg and was intended for illicit trade and consumption.

Based on a confidential tip-off, a targeted raid was carried out in the vicinity of a hotel near Ghodbunder Road. The police team intercepted two suspects, Akhtar Rafiq Shaikh (31) and Jabbar Shaikh(30), both residents of Bhivandi. Both were taken into custody for possession of a substantial quantity of marijuana, allegedly intended for commercial distribution.

Authorities recovered 70.919 kg of high-grade marijuana from the suspects. Based on prevailing black-market prices, the narcotics are estimated to be worth Rs.14.15 lakh. Additionally, police seized a scooter valued at Rs 48,000 and cash amounting to Rs two thousand from the accused, taking the total value of the seizure to Rs14.65 lakh.

An FIR was registered at Kashimira Police Station invoking multiple sections of the NDPS Act. Both suspects were arrested and produced before the court.
