The prestigious T20 tourney to witness participation from 114 MCA clubs

The prestigious President Cup 2024-25  organized by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), was inaugurated today by MCA President Ajinkya Naik at the iconic Parsee Gymkhana. The T20 tournament that will witness participation from 114 clubs from A to H Division will be held in league cum knock phase. The tourney provides a key platform for Mumbai’s club cricketers to showcase their talent in the shorter version of the game and potentially earn selections into higher-level teams including the Mumbai cricket teams.

The elite A & B Division on the other hand will witness participation from 28 teams  Group including Navi Mumbai based Dr D Y Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai based Cricket Club of India,  Parsee Gymkhana, Payyade Sports Club, Mumbai Police Gymkhana, M I G Cricket Club among others.

The inauguration ceremony saw the esteemed presence of MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap, Joint Secretary Deepak Patil, and Apex Council members Kaushik Godbole, Mangesh Satam, and Surendra Harmalkar. Ravi Thakkar, Senior Selection Member, was also present to witness the occasion, signaling the importance of the tournament in shaping the future of Mumbai cricket.

 The opening match of the tournament featured Payyade Sports Club taking on Young Maharashtra Cricket Club in a Group A league encounter*, marking the start of what promises to be an exciting and competitive season. Dr D Y Patil Sports Academy which will host the inaugural round of Group C on the other hand will take on Victory Cricket Club on Sunday, while Regal Cricket Club will face United Cricketers.

Speaking at the inauguration of the MCA President Cup  2024-25 , MCA President Ajinkya Naik emphasized the significance of the President Cup as a key stepping stone for Mumbai’s club players and said, “This tournament provides an excellent platform for club cricketers to perform and earn their place in the Mumbai team. We are committed to nurturing local talent and ensuring that our players have ample opportunities to shine.”
