Mathadi workers call off strike after CM assures action on their demands

The Mathadi Law Defense Action Committee has called off their symbolic strike following a joint meeting held on Wednesday, December 13, at Nagpur Vidhan Sabha with the Chief Minister. The meeting included key stakeholders such as the Deputy Chief Minister responsible for Home and Finance, the Labour and Industry Minister, and representatives from the Mathadi Act Rescue Action Committee.
During this crucial meeting, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister pledged concrete steps to address concerns regarding the suspension of the Mathadi Act Amendment Bill No. 34 of 2023. Their commitment also extends to implementing measures aimed at preventing any potential misuse of the Act and ensuring its effective implementation.
Notable attendees at this meeting included Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, Labour Minister Suresh Khade, Principal Secretary of the Labour Department Vinita Singhal, the Labour Commissioner, Principal Secretaries from the Home and Industries Departments, and prominent labour leaders such as Narendra Patil and Shashikant Shinde.
The gathering, presided over by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Nagpur Vidhan Bhavan, served as a platform for discussions and commitments toward addressing the concerns raised by the Mathadi Law Defense Action Committee. The government officials present vowed to take decisive actions to ensure the fair and appropriate application of the Mathadi Act, demonstrating a proactive stance in resolving this issue.
