Indian boxing champion Mary Kom has criticised the 2014 biopic Mary Kom, starring Priyanka Chopra, saying it portrayed only a fraction of her struggles and hard work. In an interview, Kom estimated that just 10 per cent of her journey was depicted, describing the film as “not real”. She suggested that her autobiography, Unbreakable, offers a fuller account of her sacrifices and challenges. Kom also ruled out a sequel, saying her story had already been covered in the film and book. Her remarks have reignited discussion about how biographical films represent the lives of real-life sporting icons.
