Lawyers in Navi Mumbai stage protest over murder of advocate couple

Lawyers in Navi Mumbai gathered at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Vashi on Monday to protest against the tragic murder of advocate couple Rajaram Adhaav and Manisha Adhaav, who were missing since Thursday, January 25, 2024. The couple, practicing law in Rahuri Court of Ahmednagar District, was later discovered to have been kidnapped and killed.

Expressing their outrage over the heinous crime, lawyers from Navi Mumbai organized a one-day symbolic fast as a mark of protest. The protest aimed to draw attention to the demand for the repeal of the Lawyers' Protection Act in Maharashtra and urged authorities to investigate the Rahuri lawyer couple's murder through the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough inquiry and stringent punishment for the perpetrators.

Several lawyers, including Muralidhar Patil, Adv. Ajinkya Gavane, Adv. Rajkiran Vasant Sonar, Adv. Sameet Raut, Adv. Anusha Arvind Shete, Adv. Vishal Katkar, Adv. Farha Shaikh, Adv. Ramesh Tripathi, Adv. Sunil Mokal, and others, participated in the protest, highlighting the need for enhanced safety measures for lawyers and a swift and effective investigation into the shocking incident.
