Kalyan Railway Police seize 200 bottles of liquor, arrest passenger

The vigilant efforts of the Kalyan railway police led to the seizure of 200 bottles of domestic and foreign liquor from a passenger aboard a running train. The individual in possession of the contraband, identified as Nathuram Tamboli from Khadavli, was promptly apprehended by the authorities.

Initial investigations reveal that Tamboli claimed to have purchased the liquor from a shop in Shahad. However, further inquiry is underway to ascertain the reasons behind acquiring such a large quantity of liquor and the intended destination of the consignment.

Amidst the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections, heightened security measures are in place to prevent any potential incidents. The police force is diligently screening objects and individuals across various locations. Notably, the Kalyan Railway Police are closely monitoring passengers within the station premises and on local trains.

The interception occurred when railway security personnel, patrolling between Shahad and Titwala railway stations, observed a passenger behaving suspiciously. Upon closer inspection, the individual was found in possession of a bag, arousing suspicion among the authorities. Subsequently, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Police detained the passenger at Titwala station.

A thorough examination of the bag revealed the stash of 200 bottles of liquor, prompting immediate seizure by the railway police. Senior Police Inspector Pandharinath Kande of the Kalyan Lohmarg Police Station is spearheading the ongoing investigation into the matter.
