Foreign delegation inspects election process in Raigad District, Alibaug

A delegation representing various International Election Management Bodies (EMBs) arrived at Alibaug region of Raigad district to oversee the electoral process in the 32 Raigad Lok Sabha constituency. Organized under the International Election Visitors Program (IEVP) by the Election Commission of India, the delegation embarked on a comprehensive inspection of the distribution of polling materials, transportation procedures, and the security measures at the strong rooms and counting centres.

Welcoming the esteemed guests at Mandwa Jetty, Collector and District Election Officer Kishan Javale extended a traditional Indian greeting. The delegation comprised representatives from Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe, including esteemed officials such as Mohammad Moniruzzman T and GM Shahtab Uddin from Bangladesh Election Commission, Nurlan Abdirov and Aybak Zikan from the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, Silaya Hilakka Pasilina from Sri Lanka, and Prisheela Chigumba and Simbarashe Tongai from the Central Electoral Commission of Zimbabwe.

 Their itinerary included a meticulous inspection of the distribution process of polling materials at various levels, where they gained insights into the intricacies of the electoral machinery and examined the arrangements made for transportation to polling stations. Collector Kishan Javale provided comprehensive briefings on the voting process, while Dr. Jyosna Padiyar demonstrated hands-on handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) devices.

The delegation also visited the strong rooms at Nehuli, where voting machines are securely stored after polling. They scrutinized the arrangements and procedures for the counting of votes, gaining a thorough understanding of the entire electoral process from start to finish.
