A female doctor, Dr. Kinjal Shah, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Bridge. The incident, which occurred on Sunday (17th), has prompted an urgent investigation by authorities amidst concerns over the safety of commuters.
Dr. Kinjal Shah, a 43-year-old resident of New Asha Building in Dadar, Mumbai, reportedly battled depression for a decade before tragically taking her own life by jumping into the sea from Atal Setu. Her body is yet to be recovered, with Nhava Sheva police intensifying efforts to locate her body.
Details surrounding the incident indicate that Dr. Kinjal Shah left her home on Sunday morning, purportedly for work. Subsequently, she made her way to Atal Setu, where she made the fateful decision to end her life. A tank driver, witnessing the harrowing act, promptly alerted the police, initiating a search operation.
As investigations continue, attention has turned to the circumstances leading to Dr. Kinjal Shah's suicide. It has been revealed that she interacted with a taxi driver while traveling on Atal Setu. Allegedly, she requested the driver to divert the route towards Mumbai, which he complied with. However, when she later urged him to stop the taxi by the side, the driver hesitated, prompting Dr. Kinjal Shah to forcibly halt the vehicle before tragically leaping into the sea.
Police officials, including Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Kote of Nhava Sheva Police Station, have begun scrutinizing CCTV footage and conducting inquiries to ascertain the sequence of events. While initial indications suggest no culpability on the part of the taxi driver, authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for answers.
