The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sealed the flat of Iqbal Kaskar, the brother of notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, in connection with an extortion and money laundering case. The flat, located in Neopolis Tower in Kavesar, Ghodbunder Road, is valued at approximately Rs. 75 lakh.
Iqbal Kaskar, who is currently serving a prison sentence for extortion, intimidation, money laundering, and other criminal activities, had previously been booked by the Thane Crime Branch and the Anti-Extortion Branch. The flat was allegedly used in 2017 to threaten builder Suresh Mehta in an extortion case. Following the registration of the case, the Thane Crime Branch launched an investigation, while the ED probed the money laundering aspect. As a result, the ED sealed the flat as part of its investigation into the illicit activities.
However, in a shocking development, Kaskar's family reportedly broke the ED’s seal on the flat and entered the property 15 days ago, according to members of the building. The ED has confirmed that they took immediate action after receiving information about the breach. The agency is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the money laundering case, with Iqbal Kaskar and his associates in active detention.
The Thane Municipal Corporation has also joined the action by placing a separate notice on the flat for property tax arrears after the ED sealed it.
The ED continues its investigation into the case, with further actions likely to follow.
