Residents allege CIDCO’s negligence

Residents of Dronagiri, a node in Uran taluka, have taken to the streets in protest against the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) over ongoing water supply problems. Alleging negligence on the part of CIDCO, residents staged a handi morcha to voice their frustrations with the persistently low water pressure in their area.

The disruption in water supply has plagued Dronagiri for several days, leading to significant inconveniences for residents who are now forced to grapple with water shortages. Many residents have resorted to purchasing water to meet their daily needs, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Sunil Thakur, a resident of Dronagiri node, expressed his frustration, stating, "I have been living in Dronagiri Road for the past year, but due to the water problem here, I am considering moving back to the village. Despite numerous appeals, the water supply remains unreliable”.

The protestors alleged that the root cause of the water supply issue is due to the failure of CIDCO for not adequately planning to address the problem. Despite repeated pleas from residents and local authorities, CIDCO has allegedly turned a blind eye to the escalating crisis, exacerbating the plight of the residents.

Meanwhile, the residents, particularly those from the Chanje Group Gram Panchayat area, have vowed to escalate their protest if their demands for a sustainable solution to the water supply issue are not met. They are calling on CIDCO and other concerned authorities to prioritize the welfare of Dronagiri's residents and address the pressing issue of water scarcity without further delay.
