Devotees concerned over pothole-ridden roads for Bappa's arrival

Navi Mumbai: As Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, Ganesha devotees in Navi Mumbai are increasingly concerned about navigating the city's pothole-ridden roads. This annual issue, exacerbated by the monsoon, raises questions about how to safely bring Lord Ganesha to homes and Ganeshotsav Mandals amid deteriorating road conditions.

The service road at Sanpada-Turbhe is particularly problematic, with numerous potholes causing significant trouble for citizens, passengers, and drivers. Despite repeated patching efforts, the road quickly falls back into disrepair after even a brief rainfall. Similar conditions are reported on Airoli Patni Road, Thane-Belapur Road, Rabale Flyover, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane, Turbhe, Sanpada Flyover, and Shiv-Panvel Road. The stretch from Vashi Village to CBD Belapur, although recently cleared by the public works department, highlights the persistent issue of road maintenance in the city.

Local residents and Ganesha devotees are calling on the administration to address these potholes urgently. Manohar Patil, Chairman of the Project Action Committee, expressed frustration over the recurring problem, emphasizing that the administration's efforts to repair potholes are often insufficient. He urged that necessary repairs be completed before the festival to avoid traffic jams and ensure the safety of the celebratory processions.
