COVID-19: 21-year-old dies in Thane

Thane: A 21-year-old resident of Mumbra, who had tested positive for Covid-19, died at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Kalwa Hospital in Thane.
The 21-year-old was admitted to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Kalwa Hospital in Thane on May 22, 2025. The patient had tested positive for Covid-19, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) sources said.
People with comorbidities are at a higher risk of COVID-19 disease.
Ten Covid-19 cases have been reported from within TMC jurisdiction. According to TMC, all patients are exhibiting only mild symptoms and are currently being treated at home.
To prepare for any potential surge, a special 19-bed ward for COVID-19 patients has been set up at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa. The hospital also has RTPCR testing facilities, confirmed superintendent Dr Aniruddha Malgaonkar.
TMC has urged the public to remain cautious, follow hygiene protocols, and report symptoms early to help curb further spread of the virus.
