Airoli: Airoli Bengali Association (ABA) has successfully organised its Mega Cloth Donation Drive 2026, marking the fourth consecutive year of its humanitarian outreach aimed at supporting underprivileged communities.

Under this initiative, the association donated around 4,000 items of clothing packed in 32 cartons. The collection included sarees, men’s and children’s wear, woollen garments and blankets, which were distributed among economically weaker families, students and tribal patients in Sakwar village in Vasai taluka of Palghar district, located about 77 km from Airoli.

The garments were handed over to the Ramakrishna Mission Sakwar – Rural Health & Welfare Centre, which has been serving tribal communities in the region since 1972. The organisation works extensively in healthcare, education, cultural development, and rural welfare activities. ABA volunteers directly participated in the distribution process, ensuring the items reached the intended beneficiaries.

The entire drive was executed by ABA’s Welfare Committee volunteers, who handled every stage—from collecting clothes across Navi Mumbai nodes to sorting, quality-checking, packing, transporting, and distribution. Special involvement was seen from women volunteers who dedicated significant time alongside their daily responsibilities to ensure smooth execution.

As part of quality control, 236 garments were discarded to maintain hygiene and dignity standards for recipients. According to ABA representative Dipanjan Dutta, the collection drive spanned three months, while sorting and packing required 22 days of continuous effort, with participation from nearly 34 families throughout the process.

In addition to clothing support, ABA also contributed Rs 14,001 to the Ramakrishna Mission Sakwar for welfare activities focusing on education, agriculture, cultural development, and tribal upliftment.

Guided by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the association reaffirmed its commitment to community service, emphasising compassion, collective effort, and social responsibility through this annual initiative.
