Inaugurates new traffic beat marshal initiative in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: Celebrated actor Swapnil Joshi emphasized the crucial role of police officers in society, highlighting that while the work portrayed on screen is fictional, the work done by the police is real and vital. "When we celebrate festivals, the police are on duty, ensuring our safety. They are the real-life heroes," Joshi remarked during an event at the Police Commissionerate in CBD Belapur.

The event marked the inauguration of the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department's latest initiative, the Traffic Beat Marshal, which saw the addition of 20 modern two-wheelers to the department's fleet. These new bikes are intended to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of the traffic police, enabling them to quickly address traffic jams and provide immediate assistance at accident sites.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Yenpure, Upper Commissioner of Police (Crime) Deepak Sakore, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Tirupati Kakade, and Deputy Commissioner of the Special Branch Rashmi Nandedkar.

In his address, Swapnil Joshi praised the pride and respect that comes with wearing the police uniform. He lauded the Traffic Beat Marshal initiative, noting that it empowers the traffic police to respond swiftly to incidents, thereby improving public safety.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Yenpure also spoke at the event, underscoring the importance of balancing the framework of law with the expectations and sensitivities of society. He acknowledged the significant attraction people have towards the police department, describing military, paramilitary, and police personnel as heroes in their own right. Yenpure commended the new initiative, emphasizing that it will significantly enhance the service provided to the public. He also urged traffic police officers to prioritize their safety while carrying out their duties as beat marshals.

The Traffic Beat Marshal initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police Tirupati Kakade, is designed to strengthen patrolling on highways and internal roads within Navi Mumbai. The 20 newly added two-wheelers will operate across 20 major highways and key routes, ensuring rapid response to traffic-related incidents and timely assistance to those in need.
