A banana seller's keen eye led to the arrest of a counterfeit currency distributor in Dombivli. The suspect, identified as Ankush Singh, fell into police custody after attempting to pass off fake currency notes, totalling a staggering Rs. 13,000.

The vigilant banana seller at Kalyan station grew suspicious when Ankush attempted to pay for bananas with a 500-rupee note, suspecting it to be counterfeit. Sensing something amiss, the seller promptly alerted the authorities, prompting swift action from the Mahatma Phule police.

Ankush Singh, hailing from Delhi and working as a Rapido bike rider, had allegedly received the fake notes from an undisclosed source in Delhi with instructions to circulate them in the market. Upon interrogation, Ankush revealed that he had intended to exchange the counterfeit bills for genuine currency, with promises of receiving 25,000 fake notes in return for 10,000 legitimate ones.

The police investigation uncovered a cache of counterfeit notes, including denominations of 100, 200, and 500 rupees, in Ankush's possession.

The Mahatma Phule police are conducting further inquiries into the matter to trace the origins of the counterfeit notes and apprehend any accomplices involved in the illicit operation.
