Belapur: NMMC is all set to celebrate School Enrollment Day (Shala Praveshotsav) on June 16 with vibrant programmes across all 80 civic schools, in line with Maharashtra government’s directive to boost public school enrolment and student enthusiasm.

As per the state school education and sports department’s circular dated March 12, 2025, ministers, MPs, MLAs, local representatives, and senior officials will visit schools on the first day of the academic year to welcome newly admitted students personally.

Under the leadership of municipal commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, NMMC’s education department has prepared an extensive plan for the event.

New students will be welcomed in a grand way and even traditional lezim and dhol-tasha performances have also been planned. Schools will also host educational displays, selfie points, and formal aarti ceremonies. Textbooks have already been delivered and will be distributed on the same day.

“Our aim is to make the first day of school enjoyable and stress-free,” Sangharatna Khillare, deputy commissioner of education, who is overseeing the initiative, said.
