Bhayander: Bucking the trend of previous years, Mira Bhayandar corporation (MBMC) has successfully handed over school uniforms to the 9,000-plus students studying in municipal schools across the civic body’s jurisdiction. The successful handover of the school uniforms will allow the school children to come to school wearing the uniforms on June 16, the first day of school, an MBMC official said.
MBMC provides its school students with educational materials like uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, and office supplies. For the past few years, the students had to languish for 5-6 months as the civic body failed to provide uniforms. Last year, uniforms were distributed on the first day of the school opening.
But this year, it will be done before the school opening and students will come in uniform on the first day, the official said.
Over 9,000 students study in the 36 schools run by the Mira Bhayandar municipality which impart education in Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and Urdu mediums.
The civic body has planned another surprise for its school students. The children will be welcomed by the school principal and the municipal commissioner Radhabinod Sharma.
